What is an Endodontist?

An endodontist is a dentist with special training in diagnosing and treating problems associated with the dental pulp (root nerve and surrounding tissues). Endodontics is one of the specialties recognized by the American Dental Association. This means an endodontist has completed at least two additional years of advanced training. In addition to performing root canal treatments, they also perform apical surgery to treat problems that cannot be resolved by traditional root canal treatments.
